The road to chess improvement is normally a long and difficult struggle which requires a lot of hard work and commitment. According to accepted wisdom you should:
1. Practice as much as possible through practical games under tournament conditions.
2. Review your games (and others) preferably with a stronger player, or with a pc
3. Solve tactics
The list goes on and on.
The truth is improving quickly is a process of learning various interconnected pieces of knowledge that its difficult to say this is the path for everyone.
What works however is learning related information consistently and to the max, all of it, not half baking it.
In our academy, we recommend that when you grab a book, read all of it and try out in practice what it recommends and review your understanding afterwards. This is the fastest way to improve.
