The echoes of clashing pieces and the ticking of the clock marked yet another thrilling weekend for the African Chess Lounge A team. As the dust settled, the outcomes showcased the sheer resilience and tactical prowess of our players.


Maties B, a valiant effort

Round 7 (2023/08/26 at 09h30): Setting the tone for the weekend, our home game against "Blackjacks B" was nothing short of spectacular. The team emerged with an emphatic victory, shutting out the opposition with a pristine score of 6 : 0. Every move resonated with intent, as our players showcased their superior strategy on the board.


• Hempe, Lilitha (1821) bested Koopstadt, Rudy (1413), ending the game at 1 - 0.

• Mncwabe, Minenhle Junior (1785) overcame Flink, Angelo (1459), concluding at 1 - 0.

• Moodley, Yudhisthira (1485) defeated Cunningham, Lezerick (1315), with a score of 1 - 0.

• Shapiro, Matthew (1324) outclassed Visagie, Cheslin (1022), securing a score of 1 - 0.

• Salimu, Chase (1265) showcased his dominance against Pharo, Keenan (1059), ending the match at 1 - 0.

• Somai, Ruhan (1358) triumphed over Laloo, Jody (1135), finishing with a score of 1 - 0.


Return of the King: Yudhi "Le Dash" Moodley

*Round 8 (2023/08/26 at 14h30):* Riding the momentum, the team traveled to face "Cape Peninsula University". Displaying a symphony of tactical brilliance, the Lounge clinched another win, concluding the game with a score of 5 : 1. The rhythm of the pieces moving in harmony portrayed a team in sync, each player contributing to the collective triumph.

• Salem, Abdarahim (1692) was bested by Mncwabe, Minenhle Junior (1785), concluding at 0 - 1.

*Round 3 (2023/08/27 at 09h30):* A Round that kept everyone on the edge of their seats, the final moments saw the African Chess Lounge A team pull through with a thrilling victory of 3½ : 2½. The applause at the end was a testament to the high-quality game that unfolded.

• Hempe, Lilitha (1821) squared off against Willenberg, Glen (1606) and clinched a solid victory with 1 - 0.

• Mncwabe, Minenhle Junior (1785) and Willenberg, Roland (1637) ended their intense duel in a draw, with a score of ½ - ½.

• Moodley, Yudhisthira (1485) faced a setback against Bouah, Denise (1684), concluding at 0 - 1.

• Makhupane, Phuthang (1585) displayed his skills against Barends, Baziel (1625) and secured a win at 1 - 0.

• Salimu, Chase (1265) was outplayed by Frick, Jacques (1654), with the game ending at 0 - 1.
